Murdoch ADSL Discount Offer

Murdoch Staff and Students are entitled to a 5% discount on Broadband ADSL services. Discount applies to:

· Initial connection fees and hardware prices;

· Monthly access fees;

· Monthly excess usage fees.

New ADSL Service

To get the discount, simply quote your Staff or Student Number on the application form, downloadable from the link below.

NOTE:
  • If you apply for this service, you are applying to Westnet, and not to Murdoch University. Murdoch University is not part of the transaction and will not handle any private accounts setup through this offer. Murdoch University has only brokered the offer to Staff & Students, and will not be liable for payment for any account setup by you with Westnet, with respect to this offer.

  • If you require help or service for your ADSL setup, or equipment, then you will need to contact Westnet Support or 1300 786 068.

  • ADSL Services are not available in all areas - even if your area's exchange is ADSL fitted, you may be too far from the exchange to be serviced. For more information on ADSL, please check Westnet's ADSL Information pages for availability and other details.

  • The IP Address issued to you will be on the Westnet network, external to the University's allocated IP range. As such you will be not considered to be on the University Network, and may have to use MAIS Password to access some University resources. Some Library sponsored online databases may not be accessible.**

  • Westnet Sales Staff will verify that you are in fact a Murdoch Staff or Student. Westnet will keep your Staff or Student details confidential. For more information about privacy, please see Westnet's Privacy Policy.

Existing Westnet ADSL Customers

Murdoch University Staff or Students who have already got an account with Westnet ADSL, can e-mail accounts@westnet.com.au with a subject line: "Murdoch Discount Offer"

Please include these details:

  • Your Westnet username
  • The phonenumber that the ADSL service is connected to.
  • Your Murdoch University Staff or Student Number
  • a short statement "I would like my account moved to the Murdoch Discount Offer" - or something to that effect.

Your account should be moved over to the Murdoch Discount Offer, for the next billing month.

Transfer Existing ADSL Service to Westnet

Murdoch University Staff or Students who have already got an account with another ADSL provider, and who would like to transfer their service to Westnet and get this Discount Offer can now do so with a minimum of downtime.

NOTE:
  • Fast ADSL Transfers are only available between participating ISPs.

  • Any existing contract with the current ISP needs to be taken into consideration. A transfer to Westnet does not negate your existing contract with your current provider. You are advised to read the fine print on your existing service, and to make sure that you know how much it will cost to terminate your existing service. - it may not be worthwhile to transfer at this particular point in time.

  • The transfer can take anywhere from 3 - 10 business days to occur. Don't expect to fax your application and have it done that afternoon.

  • Downtime for your ADSL circuit can be anything from 20mins - 8 hours. That's the maximum amount of downtime you should experience. Some reconfiguration of software will need to be done - as you will have a new username.

  • Because you are switching providers, be aware also that your existing ISP provided e-mail address will most probably not work any longer. Some ISPs may be good enough to forward your e-mail for you, after you've left as a goodwill exercise, but in reality, you're no longer paying for a service, so they're under no obligation to provide you with anything.

  • Make sure you have read the information above, for new ADSL users regarding this offer.
